Absurd Harmony of Being, 2007
Installation of variable dimensions / 220 x 112 x 112 cm. each metronome.
Personal exhibition shown at La Casona Art Gallery (Genesis Art Galleries), in Havana.
(Video is available)
Kinetic installation made of wood and metal with an electrical and mechanical system that allows each piece to oscillate with a different cadence and emit different acoustics. It is inspired by music through the symbolism of the metronome (instrument used to mark the pulse or musical tempo) and discusses the “harmony and complementarity” between the opposites.
Religio, Relegere, Religare: Absurd Harmony of Being (Kinetic Art)
Religio, Relegere, Religare: Absurd Harmony of Being. All Names of God.
A good part of the most recent Universal History could be interpreted as a great attempt to recreate the religious experience around which the great ideological projects could be articulated (with more or less success). Few of these great theologies have come to a good end. And the fact is that, the excluding character of such doctrines or ideological projects, when proclaiming the exclusivity of their respective Gods, they necessarily obviate the anthropological character of human religiosity, religion as a cultural universal and the consequent religious diversity. In such a tessitura, this project (which passes, without any qualms, through the “sacred time” and “sacred space” proposed by Mircea Eliade) speaks, precisely, of negation, of soliloquies and monologues; it speaks of noise, because… when in a space of ideological confluence we all speak in unison, turning a deaf ear to what the Others offer, in a flagrant exercise of the Self, the independent soliloquies only generate noise.
The project also included a series of drawings: All the Names of God.
