Woodcutting (Xylography). Serial Graphic Work (Engraving), 1983-1986

Wood engraving (different dimensions): Serialized graphic work.

In 1983, at the age of 12, Ernesto Benítez began his art studies at the Elementary School of Plastic Arts of El Cerro or, Vocational School of Art (EVA) Paulita Concepción, in Havana. There, he learned about the manifestation of artistic engraving and carried out his first experiments with serialized graphics as part of his art studies. Since then his preference for these techniques was such that a few years later, already at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, he decides to specialize in this discipline until he finally graduates as an engraver-drawer (Professor of Engraving and Drawing). The pieces in this particular series were made in woodcut or Xylography (wood engraving), but Ernesto also studied and experimented with other techniques typical of serialized graphic art, for example:

Xylography or Woodcut
Intaglio or metal engraving
Lithography or stone engraving
Silk-screen printing
Collography or cholagraphy

Engraving, Printing Techniques and Experimentation

These works belong precisely to his first stage as a student of Fine Arts at the Vocational School of Plastic Arts Paulita Concepción… Wood Engraving (Xylography or Woodcut) in one or more inks.
